Where is Friuli?

Friuli, actually the region is called Friuli Venezia-Giulia, is the North-Easternmost region of Italy bordering with Austria and Slovenia, the Veneto, and the Adriatic Sea.  It is a hidden gem in Italy, not as well known to Americans as some of the other beautiful regions, like the Veneto, Tuscany, Lazio (Rome), and Campania (Pompeii, Naples, and the Amalfi Coast).  Its particular geography offers a wide range of beautiful landscapes.  You can quickly drive from the Alps through the beautiful hills full of wonderful vineyards to the sea.

Some of our favorite places in Friuli are the hills of Rosazzo, where you can sip local white wine or Spumante with an incredible view of the vineyards, Grado Beach, where you can bask in the sun and when you need to cool off you can take a swim in the beautiful Adriatic Sea or walk over to the historic center to grab a gelato, and the city of Cividale, where you can see relics from barbarian times to Venetian Gothic architecture. You should also visit the beautiful star-shaped city of Palmanova and the Capital of Friuli Venezia Giulia: Trieste the home of Illy coffee. What about a romantic getaway inspired by the infamous seducer Giacomo Casanova? Do not miss then the Castello di Spessa, in Capriva del Friuli which offers a breathtaking view of the rolling hills and the plains. On a clear day, you will also be able to see the Adriatic Sea from there.

Would you like to visit?  This is just a small sampling of the beauty that Friuli offers.  Make sure to add Friuli to your travel bucket list, but until then, we are bringing a taste of Friuli to everyone with Un Per Due!
